Finding the human story.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Jessica worked in local television markets from Wisconsin to Florida for more than a decade, covering breaking news and feature stories across a broad range of topics. Her reporting has been featured on CNN, The Today Show and NBC Nightly News.
Jessica went on to launch her own Midwest-based media production company, Story Place Productions, where she and her team bring the rigor of journalism and the craft of filmmaking to corporate and nonprofit storytelling, including in the healthcare, manufacturing, finance and tech spaces.
Her work eventually led her back to television news, where she helped build Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, a nationally syndicated news magazine produced by Hearst Television. For nearly a decade, Jessica and her team traveled the country, reporting on some of the most consequential issues facing Americans—from the opioid epidemic and immigration to the pandemic, the nation's housing shortage, the impact of trade wars on farmers, and efforts to bring psychedelic treatment to veterans. Along the way, they told stories from communities often left out of the national conversation, bringing a human perspective to complex issues of public policy.
Jessica's story on the rise of the working homeless earned a 2025 National Emmy nomination, recognized alongside The New York Times, the BBC, CNN and CNN Worldwide. Her reporting has also earned dozens of other awards, including ten Gold Tellys and an Iris Award. She was recently featured in OnMilwaukee.
